The Shelton Democratic Town Committee unanimously endorsed Bette Lynn Paez for Mayor at our endorsement meeting on July 21st, 2025, at the Plumb Memorial Library. Bette Lynn has deep roots in Shelton: her Uncle Ralph Hopkins was Fire Chief in the 1980s, her cousin Alan Hopkins was a captain with Echo Hose, her mother still lives in the family home built by her great grandparents in 1890, and Wright street is named after her family.
Bette Lynn’s qualifications are as impressive as her ties to our City. She went from selling computers for IBM, to operating Bette Lynn’s bakeshop in Black Rock, and most recently has a 25-year career as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®. She is well-qualified to help turn around Shelton’s unstable financial outlook and position our City for future success. Bette Lynn was also the salutatorian of Shelton High School Class of 1973.
Bette Lynn’s platform will include reactivating the Shelton Parking Authority to address the parking issue downtown; wisely investing in the Shelton School system to address student-to-teacher-ratios and properly fund teacher healthcare; and addressing the state of the City sewer system, multiple districts of which are dangerously close to their maximum capacity, an issue that threatens to quickly inflate our taxes if we wait too long to address it.
She is joined by a diverse slate of candidates well-equipped to be public servants and tackle the issues facing our City including six first-time candidates ready to volunteer their time for all Shelton Residents. We have immigrants to our country who followed the American dream to become naturalized citizens alongside native-born daughters and sons all proud to call Shelton, Connecticut, their home. Farmers, social workers, teachers, scientists, accounting and finance professionals, and more make up our slate.
